Hi everyone, and thanks to everyone for all your kind words.
I've now joined so can check out everyone's photo's and upload some of our two doggies - promise to do it soon, well as soon as I can get my husband to help
We picked our new girl up on Sunday as planned and she was so well behaved for the whole journey from Somerset to Leeds . As we've got to know her we've decided she's definitely not an 'Emma', so we've renamed her. She's now called Madison (we'll call her Maddie, we seem to be a fan of giving them names and then shortening them!!). She was quite jumpy and flinched every time we stood up or went to stroke her, but (and I realise it will take a lot of time) she seems to have started to trust us and flinches much less than when we first picked her up, in fact the only time she flinches is when she isn't watching us and we touch her!
She seems to get on well with Amber, although Amber is very protective of my husband and I, and pushes Maddie out of the way when she comes for a cuddle. That said though she does seem to be doing it less now. Amber has fallen out with us, and keeps sulking , we're really making an effort to fuss her and give her cuddles and kisses as often as possible - we're hoping she'll be back to her usual bubbly self soon! My poor baby!!
Hope that's enough information for you all for now!

That's great news you've got your new little girl. Lovely name too. Your little Amber will soon come round to her new sis, maybe will take a little time for her to settle and get used to her. Don't forget tho your Amber has had your undivided attention all these months and possibly doesn't want to share you just yet with Maddie. Equally Maddie is in new surroundings and bless her she'll be a bit confused also. Keep your chin up and carry on as normal, they'll be great together very soon, you'll see
What's happening about maddies deaf training, are you any closer with it? Keep us informed and Good Luck. Look forward to your pic soon
I am sure Maddie and Amber will soon settle down, I have only had Suzie 11 weeks but her and Katie are inseparable, they sleep cuddled up to each other and generally follow each other everywhere. Suzie is also still nervous but gets better with each day. Good luck with your new furbaby, keep us posted on how you are getting on

Hi everyone
Thought I'd log on and give you all a quick update on how our new girl Maddie is doing. Sorry for posting on introductions but didn't know if I could carry this post over to another topic area, and wanted people to know the history!
So, we've had Maddie for just over 4 weeks now, which has really flown by. We can't imagine not having her now, she really has settled in well. She and Amber get on very well now, they absolutely love each other, and get into mischief together e.g digging BIG holes, big enough to get under the fence if it wasn't for our neighbours patio paving stopping them! We hardly notice her deafness anymore, although we did have a panic a few weeks ago when she got out of the garden and - obviously - wouldn't come back when we called her (we still speak to her now, even though we know she can't hear!). Amber embarrassed us by jumping into the computer engineers car who'd just come to fix our computer, she just would not come out at all, which ever door we opened i.e. front door, she jumped into the back and vice versa! I can laugh about it now but at the time I was mortified.
She loves her walks, and when we're in the fields we can take her off her lead as she sticks by Amber, or walks to heel! She's so clever!!
She's cut down on her barking a lot which is good, she tends to follow Amber's lead and usually only barks when she does! Another bonus is her trumps have stopped smelling like poison When we picked her up from Somerset, all the way home to Leeds she gassed us until we were choking, but her stomach has settled down now and she rarely does a smelly trump, although every evening she graces us with very noisy ones! This is all new to my husband and I as Amber NEVER does this, wonder if it's because Maddie was used for breeding and therefore is more 'slack', for want of a better word, in that region???
She's so loving, she was when we got her but she doesn't very rarely flinched now, she comes up for cuddles and lays on her back so you can tickle her tummy - we're very proud that she's learnt to trust us this much
We're gradually starting with the training so I'll keep you updated with the progress, she's very clever so I'm sure it will be as easy as it was with Amber!!
Think that's everything for now, sorry it's been so long since I last posted, and I promise to try and get some pictures soon!!
