Hi,

I would take Dexter to the vet for a check up. It sounds to me like he may have damaged his cruciate ligament. I have had two dogs who this has happened to and the symptoms sound very similar - if not the same. I would rest him as best you can and get him checked out tomorrow. Hip problems do not present themselves in the same way and I don't think a draught would cause this to happen. It sounds like a typical cruciate problem. Good luck!

hi carroll just caught up on this thread sorry dex wasnt feeling the best hope all is well now

you know when bob was diagnosed with hd it was also found from the xray and an examination that he had damage to his cruiate liagment
and when he collapsed the next time i thought it was his hips but im 99% sure it was the cruiate playing up... at first he wouldnt get up just sit and look at us then when we eventually got him up and into the car and out at other end he was holding his leg up and not using it
only thing that solved it was the injection for pain which made him sleepy and lie around all afternoon so it rested and since then no problems

i think eventually he will need an operation to fix it but the vet hasnt suggested this yet

maybe it would be good to take him just to get it checked

meanwhile take care of him and yourself im sure majic will help by bringing him more toys and you a cup of tea Wink

I saw Maj & Dex today and Dex was looking his normal self, no probs that I could see. Carroll told me over the phone last week he was back to himself, it must have been muscle strain poor thing. In fact I think she posted on the prev page that he was fine now?

Glad to report he looked fit and healthy today and had not long gotten home from a swim in the river! He's so sweet.
