I hate flexi leads too, not only does it hurt your arm when the zoom along and get to the end of the lead but I am sure it can't do the dog any good when they get jerked back when they reach the far point of the lead.
Charly had a nylon collar to start with and a short lead to match.
We got a soft collar and a matching lead, we did have an extendable lead (on a reel) and it was great while Jess smaller and to practice the "come" in training sessions, but it will pull your arm out of socket with a bigger dog!!!
I too started with a soft nylon puppy collar and lead...
I did and do use a flexi-lead occasionally, but don't really like it at all - I definitely didn't use it though until Danny was older and well used to his collar and lead... unfortunately sometimes there are places where a flexi-lead is the better option for us (normal leads not being long enough for Danny to have a run, long-lines too much hassle to wind in because there are other people about, and off-lead is restricted either by the rules of the park or Danny'**** and miss recall )
Hello and welcome! I second the nylon collar too! It is amazing how fast they grow and he would soon grow out of it. They come in nice bright colours, a lovely electric blue would suit Oscar beautifully!!!!!
Tesco sell them for £4.99 or eBay is also a great place to shop for essentials...
I look forward to seeing more pictures of your gorgeous Oscar...
Ooo puppies! I love shopping for little ones knowing full well they won't last long! But hey, thats the excitement of bringing home a lttle one! Ebay is great for essentials, so just a cheap soft one as the others say. But it wont be long before you'll want to buy the next size up and there really are some beautiful collar sites around!
