We did our first show on Sunday with mixed results. It was a puppy class so the judge only really gave an opinion (no placings)- very promising, promising, good and sort of average.
We came away with PROMISING!!!
Blue is still coming across as quite timid, unlike the other pups, and also, unfortuantely for us (and the French are MAD on full dentition) I discovered Blue has 4 teeth missing.
However, the good news is she has a correct bite, correct topline, very good head, very good eye, very good front and behind movement, tail corectly attached (!! ) and very nice allure!
Man, a long, long day though - out at 4.00am and home at 9.30 pm with a 5 our wait for our class! Why they judge puppies last I will never know!!

Nice to know her tail is sewn on properly...you wouldn't want it falling off in the ring would you. And I'm sure if you search the 'net you'll be able to get some dentures for her, to fill in the gaps.
Lovely to hear you have a *Promising* start to Blues show career.
Well done! I'm amazed they judge the puppies last - here they are first - so at least if you come over you can slip off quickly after an hour or so
Can't imagine making the poor little dears stand around all day for no good reason... but really pleased you got a 'promising'.
As regards teeth and dentition, you will find British judges pay no or very little heed to missing teeth - well missing premolars anyway which will be what your Blue is missing - wouldn't want people to think she is missing front teeth or something - Miss Gappy - grin....
Believe me, she could have a lot worse breed faults than a missing tooth or two (or four)
I was wondering how you got on!

Excellent Nicola - although poor puppies having to stand around all day - at least as a general rule, if we have a ridiculously early start to get to the show, we are generally home by 7pm latest - a very long day hope you have recovered and had a good day out
Puppies last - a bit contentious too. Males first (all classes) them females so unluckily for me as a female pup, we were last on. Poor Dooby. A big indoor show in a massive expo centre (like Earls Court or the NEC) with lots of noise, tannoys etc.
The dentition thing is a bit of an issue as the French and some of the "third world" (ie eastern European) countries are mad on this full dentition thing. The judge actually counted her teeth! I was a bit shocked as I had ony really been checking for the correct bite (which she has). At first he said 5 teeth missing but when I looked so shocked he checked again and said 4!! "Not good" he sadi!!
I have spoken with her breeder who explained that if we were in the Uk it would not be an issue at all. Thankfully it still means she can be confirmed as conforming to breed standard and we are now on the look out for French shows with Uk judges (like at Limoges)!!
On the plus side I hsve now made contact with a judge/lab brreeder who deals with the export/import of sperm...so for those with nice studs....
Oh and watch out - we've got our ATC!!!!
Thanks so much for your good wishes, you have no idea how much it means to me.
Next show is Montpellier on 28th (another early start or a dirty weekend away )
