So strange the conflicting advice from vets.
Mine said after 7 days fine to go out in public.
Had her first walk today actually!

Laughing ours said to keep Jacob in for 14 days after 2nd jab....I think it also depends how old they are when they have the jab but could be wrong!

Ours was also 14 days after 2nd jabs. Also Jd apparently doesn't need to be wormed again until 6months since he had been wormed at 8 weeks which covers him till 6 months. Seems all vets are different. Jd will go for a 6 month check next month so will be asking lots of questions then as he hasn't had any flea treatment but saying that he hasn't had them as yet so not too worried about that.

I wouldn't be worried by having a jab late.................the most important thing to do with a puppy, is socialisation.........and this doesn't need to be in a park or on the beach etc. just pick puppy up in your arms and take him to different places, I know they are heavy by this age, but just to sit in a town on a bench, is a huge learning experience for a puppy, the more you can let your puppy experience, the better, have people around to the house for him to meet etc. and you can practise lead walking at home in the garden.

And unless your puppy has visibly got worms, I wouldn't worry about that either, just worm him when you can.

Hi, my new lab, Bailey is 8 weeks old. He is due for his first vaccination in a couple of days. The thing is, at the moment we are paper training him so that he does not have to go outside. Our garden is always full of cats and I thought ot was better to be safe than sorry. Yet all the information says not to paper train; what alternative is there; we plan to take him outside in the garden once his vaccinations are active; which will be 3 weeks. Will it be OK in 3 weeks to change to go outside? should I place some puppy pads he has soiled outside just to remind him. Help!

It must be a vet thing because George was wormed at 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks as recommended by both the breeder and the vet and then our vet has requested George continue to be wormed once a month for the first 6 months and then 3monthly there after.

I wouldn't bother with paper training Smile , you'll only going to have to try and break that habit when you want your puppy to go to toilet outside, which will confuse him.
Don't worry about cats entering your garden, they don't carry the same diseases and your puppy should still have a little protection form it's mother against parvo etc.
