Hello, me again! (groan)
A couple of days ago, I had Megans lovely bed out of her crate and in the livingroom so she could lie on something soft and play with her toys rather than our hard floor. I was not being very vigilant, and she had a wee on it. The cover is waterproof, so I rinsed that off. While that was drying the next day, she managed to get hold of the inner bit of the bed and weed on that as well. (sigh) So I soaked that in bio washing powder solution and dried that too.
Her bed went back into her crate today and whilst I was having a nap my partner was keeping her amused - she started sniffing around (she is not house trained yet) so he went to open the back door, calling her out with him. Megan would not go near the door, went into her crate (which is in the dining room by the back door) and calmly weed all over it right in front of him! Ian did plonk her outside, at which she promptly had a poo. (Be grateful for small mercies!!)
We will put some Vetbed back in her crate for tonight, but I dont really like using that as she likes pulling it out of the crate during the day and shredding it and the fluff gets EVERYWHERE!
Anybody got any suggestions? Do I have to get rid of the bed now she is used to weeing on it?
Look forward to hearing your feedback,
Regards Aimi and Megan (AKA Superbladder!!)

all i can say is bailey used to go regularly on his bed, on the sofa, he wasnt fussy. rarely went in the same place twice though lol. odd dog. however now if he is left too long, or we dont catch him waiting to go out, he does go on the same spot by the door. you just need to perservere with taking her out regularly, praising etc and also wshing where she goes thoroughly as you have done. it will click eventually

Thanks for that Wendy. There just seems no rhyme or reason to her wees at the moment! We have only had her just over a week, and I suppose that at 12 weeks she was relatively old when we got her - up until then she had lived in a stable and weed where ever she liked. She just does not know any different at the moment!
We will just keep praising her when she gets it right, and no reaction when she gets it wrong!

yeh, bailey was the same, no logic to where he went either. as you say the fact that before you got her she knew she could go anywhere means that prob the habit she has gotten into. its still early days for her, perservere with it, it will come good Smile

She is getting pretty big but I can still pick her up. However I am not usually that quick - by the time I see her going to squat if I have missed the sniffing, she is in mid flow and I reckon a puddle is preferable to a trail as I run out the back door with her!
I have been told that if I do find her in mid wee, to take her outside straight away and treat her as they still have all the "wee feelings" and will associate being outside and getting a nice treat with weeing. Is this right, or will she not make a connection? Obviously, she no longer needs a wee, as she has just had one!!
Any thoughts?

I firmly but not shout and say 'no' scoop up and take outside, you will be surprised some dogs do finish off outside as the intervention stops them in mid flow Very Happy

Righto - will try that then. I have read somewhere that you should not react negatively to them weeing inside as they will start to hide it from you, but if it worked for you, that is good enough for me!

Don't worry! That is fine - I do make sure she can't see me clear it up.
Will keep persevering and taking her outside at hourly intervals. The look she gives me sometimes is priceless - "Out here AGAIN?" She will just sit on the back step and look at me balefully as I prance about trying to get her stimulated! Wink
The neighbours think I have finally cracked.
