Both Annie and Henry are taking their silver and gold KCGC awards next month, they should, and I say should, but who knows on the night, pass them, but I have one thing that I need to teach them both.
How do you train them to stop dead when running towards you ? I want them to know this anyway incase I need to stop them when out and about.
ps. Charlie started his puppy foundation class last night and he was star pupil.

Dula has posted a topic about stopping in Field Trails. John has responded today. It may help, not sure. and i cant do that techo thing to put that post up here to show you, sorry.
When I taught Mojo this for her Good Cits, I had real trouble to start off with as her recall is so fast.
Firstly I had to slow her down and I found that instead of opening my arm and shouting a high pitched "come", if I pointed at her with both hands and slowly bought them towards me at the same time as saying in a lower voice "come" she didn't run full pelt at me.
I then started to work on the Stop. I sat her up and took a few paces backwards, called, then held my hand out as if I were a Policeman stopping traffic and said STOP and SIT in a firm voice.
Once I could see she was stopping when she saw my hand go up, I started to step a few paces further back and stopping her before she got all the way to me.
Over the next couple of days I had gradually moved right back the whole length of my garden (75') and had her stopping where ever I wanted.
I dropped the word Sit too by about the second day as I know it isn't what the examiner wants to hear. She mostly stopped and then sat, but sometimes she just stopped in mid stride and stood there, either is acceptable as long as they don't move until you go back and attach the lead.
Henry is so fast as well, in the shows people are surprised that he stops in time, must admit there has been a couple of occassions that he hasn't, and I have gone a*se over t*t.
