Jansen pulls like a steam train to, at school he does fantastic heelwork !

Im glad im not the only one with a dog who goes deaf when he sees another dog !

A little tip - use a squeeky toy squeker when out on a walk to get their attention when the run off & they come racing back, this really worked well yesterday when he did a runner.

i tried the squeaker after Di's advice for distraction while lead walking, i keep it hidden in my pocket and when i used it you should've seen baileys head wizz round amazing Laughing

I've read 2 of Jan's book they are great, the only thing i can't grasp is the ignoring bit when you come in, because if the dog is being good and not jumping up why do you ignore them, yes i understand you ignore the bad behaviour or am i getting it wrong Confused

The gist I'm getting is that the Alpha will enter and no fuss is made of it. I've noticed this between Bailey and Corbie. When we see them Bailey will ignore Corbie for a few minutes and then he goes up to him and wants to play and watching Corbie's behaviour towards him shows that he sees Bailey as the dominant.

I do ignore Corbie as I'm trying to go by the book and see what happens - I wasn't sure of this at first as I loved saying hello to my pup, but now I see that waiting until he's calm it's still as good as before if not better! Once he's settled I say hello, or if he's quiet I'll just leave him a couple minutes before I say anything. It just confirms to them that you are the boss and they don't need to be.

Can I ask, I am waiting for this book as it may say in there, between D&M there does not seem to be a dominant to me.

They both act the same and seem to be on a neutral level.

Is there always a more dominant dog or is it possible for them to be equal as such Very Happy

Read a bit about this last night.. she was trying to get two dogs to get along as their respective elderly owners were going to get married and move in together.

In the end her methods worked, and they became equal sub-ordinates who looked to their owners as the alpha. So sounds like Majic and Dexter are very happy as they are Wink
