Hi Guys / Girls.

Just joined up after a mad Christmas and getting ourselves a gorgeous Lab puppy a week before . . . .yeah that was good timing. Don't worry, it's not a puppy for Christmas deal. Just the way things worked out. We're a family of 3 with a son of 2 and a baby due in 3 months. The latest addition, Bailey, has been planned for years but never was the right time. Then the oppotunity arose for us to get one from family friends for nothing and of course as soon as we met him, we all knew he'd be coming home with us a few weeks later. So how is it all going. Well, Bailey has been here 3 weeks now and I guess he can't ever remember another life now. He's 10 weeks old and growing by the day. His training is going well, sit, down and stay are all adhered to when food is available and his first two weeks of playful biting have stopped thanks to some good advice on a web site I found. His second set of injections (innoculations) are next week and after that we plan to walk him (gentle and for short periods of time) in the nearby woods. Only trouble is, he won't budge once he's wearing a lead. Just sits there and that's it . . . . even with titbits dangled in front of his nose . . .(any advice anyone).

Anyway, it's nice to have found a community of Lab owners and hopefully in a few years time we'll be able to offer advice as well as still taking it.

Just to finish is a pic of Bailey taken last week over Christmas when he was 8 weeks old.

Hello and Welcome to LF. Hope you find this forum as fun and informative as I do, it's been a God send for me.

I'm not an expert but when you are ready to take Bailey outside into the big wide world I'm sure his interest will peak and there will be no stopping him on the lead .. prepare to be pulled!

Congratulations on getting Bailey, and welcome to LF.

When I have had a pup that has been stubborn and won't walk on the lead, I have left the lead on him indoors (not holding it) and leave him to it, then after a while they seem to forget about it and start walking around with it trailing behind them. then carefully picking the lead up and holding him. Had to this a few times before they started to accept it.
