Hello All,
Before we got Scooby we spent quite a lot of Money on toys for him, although now he's 6 months old we think we really shouldn't have bothered!! Reason being is he so happy playing in the Garden with Plant Pots and back door mats, why on earth would he spend his time on anything else.
We were decorating at the weekend and so he thought that would be a good opportunity to ransack the garden. when i went out there to make sure that he was ok, it looked like a bomb had gone off!!!. Plants all over the place, upturned mud and soil on the grass, chewed and half eaten plant pots and even the back door mat had been chewed!!
Do you think this was because he was Bored or just saw the opportunity to be Mischievous???

I think he was just being a Lab
Harvey is exactly the same - house full of toys but would rather chew on rubbish (especially in the garden)

Ground Force with a difference I know what you mean about the toys, Corbie was quite happy with shoes, newspaper, cardboard, etc when we first got him and all his toys just sat there. Luckily, he now plays with them!
Corbie did some gardening at the weekend too - I potted up some ornamental grass that was not looking healthy, I then go and do some weeding at the bottom of the garden to look back and see Corbie standing there with the newly planted grass out of the pot and in his mouth!
I did rescue and re-pot and now I've put it out of his reach
Corbie has toys out there, but I think they like to explore while no one is watching and think 'ah that's new, wonder what this does?!'

Hi,
I think your lab was just given the chance to wreak your garden!
Ben my lab will try at any opportunity to wreak anything of ours, he goes from pinching things to chewing things up! Just puppy behaviour I think...LOL

Phewwww what a relief to read these comments....
Frodo 2 is in the same leaugue...I spend a fortune on his toys (the red Kong costing just 2.99 pounds in UK costed me approx 10 pounds here in mumbai... i get the names from this forum and ask my local shop to get it )
despite all my efforts my darling baby fancies empty bottles., stones, towel, bird feather .... I have a cost consciouss labbie who wants mamma to save need to learn a lesson or 2 from him
Now I'm gonna go blind on any thread about toys
