I actually was going to have one of Rubys puppies, but when I saw Brandy's litter, which arrived several months sooner, I feel in love with my Tara. I thought Ruby was just like a teddy bear, as is my Mums dog from her litter in September. (I wanted her to call him teddy, lovely dark blonde like Ruby, but she wouldn't, decided on Merlin because he is Magic!)
Oooooooo I am so jealous that your Mum called him Merlin. I wanted Sam to be called Merlin but he's supposed to be hubby's dog so he chose the name Sam.
Yes Jo does endeavour to housetrain them all before they leave and Sam learned really quickly. The only problem we have with him is that he will wee a bit when he is excited - like when OH comes home from work and Sam is pleased to see him!
All Jo's pups seem to be absolutely gorgeous. She has a litter due at the beginning of April...............I am trying hard to fight the urge to call her and see if they are all spoken for!
Can I be really cheeky and ask what Tara and Merlin'd build is like. We have had a few concerns over Sam being underweight as he seems to be growing up and not out. He is 21" tall at the withers and very very slim. The vets have commented that they think he will be a big boy (large paws) and that he will not fill out for a while.

Merlin is big pawed, but short in height, I think he will even out as he gets older, he will be a chunky boy I think. (from the same litter as your Sam)
Tara is very petit, but she still has a little bit of growing to do, her paws are small and dainty like her. (Same Sire as your Sam)
I have noticed too that both Merlin and my Tara wee when they are excited. I'm sute it will pass, they are all young.

Hi there,
I saw your post and would like to let you know that I own Black beauty boy. He has a fantastic temperament, is very bold and loves his work as a gundog. He has sired several litters and is a proud dad. He has a distinctive ridge of hair that runs down his nose from between his eyes and it would be interesting to know if any of his offspring have inherited this feature?
Hope this is helpful to you.
Thank you so much for posting. Sam is absolutely lovely, he has a great temperament and we all absolutely adore him. He can be a little shy and timid at times but soon finds his feet. He was very hesitant with water to begin with, but now absolutely adores swimming and we regularly take him along the River Otter. He didn't much like the sea at Beer the other day though!
He doesn't have the ridge of hair that you mention down his nose, but he does have a small grey patch on his chin. Also the feathers down his back legs are getting ever longer. From the photograph that I saw of Black Beauty Boy he looked a very regal and handsome dog and I would love to see more photos if you have any. Also can I be very cheeky and ask what size he is and how old he is now. Sam is 7 months and weighs 19.5kgs and is 22" at the withers.
Many thanks.
