Hi,
Started reading this forum earlier - it's fascinating! I was wondering if Sam might have any relatives out there or if anyone can shed any light on his pedigree? I bought him from Lewtrenchard Labradors in Devon in November this year.

Dam:
Housty Cwm Ally
Dam's Parents:

Dam's Grandparents: IR FT CH FT CH Ernevale Urn, Loughbrook June, King Shadow of Buxbury, Drakeshead Quebec of Buxbury
Dam's Great Grandparents: IR FT CH Turramurra Beau (IKC), IR FT CH Broadville Dusky (IMP), FT CH IR FT CH Theoweir Turramurra Teal (IKC), Yebrek Goldilocks (IKC),FT CH Strad Benis, Craigfelin Kandy, FT CH Aughacasla Sam of Drakeshead (IKC), Drakeshead Pendle
May I also ask what the abbreviations other than FT CH mean, eg. IR FT CH, IKC and IMP?
FT CH means field trials champion. Not sure about the IR, but have always for some reason wondered if it means Irish (don't know why, and could be very wrong). I don't know the other abbreviations, so hopefully someone else will come along to elaborate there.
I was just wondering if there might be any more of Sam's relatives out there, especially in the Devon area where we live. We got him from Lewtrenchard Labradors in Lewdown.
Or is anyone able to shed anymore light on his family tree, especially the Irish connection?

Black Beauty Boy is my bitches Sire. She is a chocolate lab very petite and is loving, gets upset when we even leave the room, and she is a year old now.
Lovely bitch - very dark chocolate colouring even though her mother was a light brown colour.
Thanks for the post TeresaAL. Did you get her from a breeder in Devon?
Sam sounds very similar in temperament. He whines if my husband or I leave the room and seems to be a very loving although timid chap.
Have you seen any photos of Black Beauty Boy? He is very handsome - I hope Sam follows suit!

Jo Metherell at Lewtrenchard labs bred my chocolate bitch.
Tara is the most loving little girl you could ever meet but she is a little scared of children and very timid with new people. I took her to puppy classes which helped.
When I come home and give her love she cries a little, can't make up my mind if it's because she wants to go to the toilet but would rather be loved by me of if she is so happy she has to make a noise. Not sure.
She does talk a lot, you know with groany noises and such, my other labrador doesn't do that.
Sam is also timid with some new people, but fine with children. Perhaps that is because we have two young sons so he has grown up with them and had no choice! He has such a lovely nature and the whole family absolutely adore him.
I know that Sam's Mum, Housty Cwm Ally (otherwise known as Ruby) was a very calm dog but never actually met the Sire so don't know what his temperament was like. Did you see him?

Ahhh, my mum has one of Rubies, must be from the same litter as yours, she has a blonde boy, I know he is great with children and if you raise your voice to him or upset him he will sulk or mess somewhere. tehe. He is beautiful though, I wanted to steal him several times. I would post pictures but I am not a full member.
He was virtually house trained as was mine when mum got him, I think Jo Metherell semi house trains them before they leave her.
Tara (my bitch from Lewtrenchard Labs, mother called Brandy, same father as your Sam) was much easier to house train than my previous lab.
