Hiya www.lostlabs.com ( LF's sister site ) has had a real busy few days....but we just wanted to mention just one of the ' cases ' we have been working on.....
Jem.....a black 5 month old puppy ' went missing ' with his buddy, a Goldie..on the 2nd November.....Goldie was reunited within 24 hrs but Jem dissapeared...totally.....and despite all efforts nothing was heard at all....
Then...last night...we were contacted....the PDSA in Glasgow had a dog brought into them with a cough...THEY SCANNED HIM ......and the truth emerged.......Jem is now back home tonight where he belongs...with his rightful owners and family.....I have to say without that identification he could of been lost forever
Lostlabs never gives in...we carry on until ' closure ' so if any new LF members are reading this please nip over and join both the site AND the alert list.....We are all owned and governed by the same lovely peeps....so you won't be traitors lol
The moral of this story...........protect your pets....give them a voice CHIP AND / OR TATTOO THEM .....
excellent to hear that lab was reunited with its owners, and I am very glad I have Jake chipped...
May i ask a question? please forgive my ignorance in asking this but would a vet always scan or check a tatoo id? or is it only if a dog is in a rescue or pound? after signing the petition to get the council to scan i wondered what happens to the stolen pups, they must need to see a vet sometimes, could vets be asked to scan all new dogs brought in for the first time? sorry if that is a daft thought.
Perhaps you can post on petchat Rhoni and get some peeps to join from there
Good new thought to have tehm finally reunited

Can I just add to this one, and bump it up again, Rhoni?
I just wanted to say that it is important to have as much visual ID on your dog as possible in case it gets out or anything.
Today I was walking through our small town, on the busy main street, when I noticed a dog (some sort of a collie cross I think) wandering along on no lead and with no owner in sight. It wore a collar, but had no tag attached or visual ID of any kind. Everyone else was just ignoring it and going past, but I began knocking on a few doors. Fortunately for the dog, I did eventually locate the owner, but if that had not happened then I would probably have had to organise for the dog to be collected, either by the dog warden or by a vet etc. Fortunately too, the dog was very friendly, if slightly scared and seemed to want to stick near to me.
I had my four year old daughter in tow. She has now watched Mummy breaking her own number one rule about not approaching strange dogs. Could do little else though, as I did not want the dog to get killed on a dangerous road if I could possibly do something about it.
ID your dogs as much as possible. I wish people would all do that.
Good to hear Jem has been reunited with his rightful owners!, sounds a similar kind of thing that happened with CJ and what brought me to LF some 18 months ago , thank goodness for people that bother to scan animals brought in.
