right i really need to brag about my wonderfull labs here goes.....i took mambo n mylo to hythe seafront again this week end they were having a great time in n out the sea (mylo actuallty swam a little to) n usually we put them back on lead when we see another dog but suddenly the smallest jack russel appeared from nowhere my 2 towered over her she really was tiny i didnt have time to call them before she was surrounded mambo one side mylo the other my heart was in my mouth not that thay are aggressive but she was sooooo tiny i opened my mouth to shout n before the words even came out my 2 came racing back with the terrier in tow they had a run about together my 2 not really taking any notice of her (tho at one point mylo did have a really got sniff n the terrier rolled onto her back!! but i called him away n he went strauight back in the sea i couldnt see anyone for miles then her owners appeared n got hold of her i was so proud of my 2 i could of cried these last few weeks mambos gone from being completely deaf off lead to coming when called even with another dog about as temptation i am so relieved hes been training since march now n that was my biggest niggle with him i coulnt let him off but now i do every time n hes a pleasure to walk i still have the panic moment when i spot another dog but hes really uphased by them now (he still barks if hes on lead tho is that normal???)
my second brag is mylo at training we do come away from distraction n we usually let tyhem off in a circle of dogs that are on lead n call them straight away well this week there were only 2 of us mylo n a 9mnth old st bernard hes huge so our trainer decided we were going to make it a bit more challenging we let them off together out side n walked away leaving them to bouce around like loons they were having a great time playing we left them like that for a couple of minutes then me n the st bernards owner ran in opposite directions n called them back they both stopped immediatly n came n sat by our sides at the exact same times our trainer was ssooo impressed with them both she congratualated us both a number of times again i could of cried such a great feeling n now i feel i can really enjoy them both i no i still have to keep on top of their training but i have finally turned a corner n i no they can both do it sorry for the long post guys but im sure u all understand
God I so wish my two would come when called, well done.
More training needed with mine but I suppose I can't expect it all to be great overnight now can I.
no it def dosent happen overnight thay are labs n id almost given up on ever being able to let mambo off lead other than in an enclosed area!!! hes nearly 2 an a half n i have nearly had him a yr now n hes been in proper training since march n is 8 weeks into gold classes but hes still hard work sometimes n i probably will have a few slip ups to come but at least i no hes good off lead with other dogs i dont have to panic so much when i see one about
