Anyone else got dogs that like to watch the TV? Ben is a rescue and stayed with me the first night after he was found, the next morning he was following me around the house until the BBC Breakfast News "jingle" came on. Ben was straight over to the TV watching intently. He does tend to like watching the TV, but sometimes he's absolutely taken in by a programme.
Late one night I was working on the computer and the TV was essentially on as background noise, Ben was on his bed behind my chair. No idea what the programme was, some music programme, the theme music came on, Ben jumped out of bed and sat inches from the TV. He stayed there intently watching and listening to Ozzy Osborne until the theme music came on for the end of the show. As the show ended, Ben went back to bed.
Another time on a Sunday afternoon Ben again sat inches from the TV, this time to watch The Italian Job. He hadn't shown any signs of interest until the first time Michael Caine spoke and from then on he was fascinated and watched the film most of the way through. He had quite a sulk when I dragged him from the TV to go on his walk
I always wonder what's going through his head when he watches TV like that.
Sounds like these are things Ben used to watch with his previous family, CJ will watch some thngs, animals catch his eye and he`ll get as close as he can to the TV, though its made difficult for him at times by Cindy who doesn`t think he should be doing anything like that and will have a go at him
I'd guess something he watched or maybe a voice that sounds familiar to one he's known in the past. It's the times that he watches TV like that, then nothing else matters - you can put food right under his nose and he won't touch it because he's far more interested in the TV!

Oops probably need to get him out of watching that
Kippa likes playing football, probably 'cos OH used to leave the football channel on for her when we went out. I kept reminding him she was a girl
Ah, bless him! Does he do that cute cocking his head thing? Willow gets jealous of the TV. My new partner has recently moved in and we just bought a new TV. We never had one before and now we have started to watch TV again she gets all jealous because she is now having to compete for attention!
She loves watching other dogs on the screen though. She stares in amazement as soon as she catches the sound of any K9 on the box!
Toby likes some things...he likes shows with dogs in like Best in Show that was on Animal planet...hee hee! He also likes star wars - can't get enough of R2 D2 beeping.
Otherwise he's not really bothered - he really likes music though. (He doesn't have much of a choice with me around...)
My old westie used to bark at motorbikes and cats on the TV. And at the start of Coronation street when the cat runs along the wall he used to run straight at the TV and collide with the screen. He did this for FOURTEEN years....PMS - never figured it out, bless his soul!
Ugo watches TV more than any other dog I've ever had and he too has favourite programs.
Last night when I was putting away the washing and generally being to busy to play with him for a bit, I settled him onto the sofa and put 'Monkey world' on for him (its his favourite!!!) I suddenly realised that I was treating him exactly like I used to treat my boys when they were toddlers and I needed to get on with some jobs!!! I even felt a bit guilty for sticking him infront of the TV instead of doing something 'educational' with him!!!
