Well, with one of my uni exams tomorrow morning, i thought today i would just relax, read over some stuff and to calm my nerves i thought it would be good to go out for a long walk with Leo this evening. So off we went in the car to a country park with a huge lake in the middle. Leo loves it at this particular park as he loves swimming in the huge lake and swimming after his ball etc.
So we arrived at the park and i let Leo off the lead and off we strolled.
About 10 minutes into our walk we passed 2 woman with about 3 or 4 dogs all running around. We briskly walked passed and to be honest, Leo was more interested in spashing about in the lake than the other dogs.
A few feet on and all off her dogs came bounding up towards Leo. They were just all sniffing so i thought to myself, thats nice, they are obviously friendly dogs, so i thought nothing of it and just kept on walking, while telling Leo to follow me, which he was.
These dogs wouldn't leave us alone, and i was walking at quite a fast pace, so i popped Leo on the lead and stopped for a minute or two giving the other owners a chance to call their dogs back..
Their dogs wouldn't return to them, and were just hindering around Leo and I so i tried walking away from the other dogs to see if that helped them return to their owners.
OH my word!! The abuse i got when i started walking away!!
I was absolutely shocked to say the least!! "You get F**ing back here you little B***"
"Our dogs will rip you F***ing dogs head off unless you get back here!!"
This was the type of thing that was getting shouted at me from 2 woman which were in their 40's.
I turned around wondering what the hell was going on! Their dogs weren't anywhere near Leo and I by this point, as walking away from them had worked.
I shouted to the woman "what are yous screaming at me like that for"
With them balling back "You and your F**ing dog trying to play with our dogs, keep away from them you little C**"
I seriously could not believe what i was hearing, and to be honest, i was really quite scared. These woman started screaming that they were going to "bash my head in"
I started walking even faster, ended up jumping over a fence, with Leo going under it and took a country road to get away from them!
I was really quite scared. Leo and I done nothing to provok these people. We were happily walking along, Leo didn't even run up to their dogs or anything it was their dogs who run up to us! And even then, i tried to make sure their dogs returned to them without any problems by putting Leo on the lead!
I ended up leaving early and it totally spoiled both Leo and myselfs walk.
I reported the two woman to the park Ranger but he said unfortunatly theres not much they could do, and i would have to take it up with the police. But even then, i doubt much would be done unless i knew who they were etc...
What a horrible frightening experience though. It's actually put me off going back to that park, which is ashame as Leo and I love going up there together for a nice walk.
I just don't understand what goes through some peoples heads
Oh god, what a horrible experience Jill, it is getting terrible that you cant walk your dog in peace and safety. Hope you and Leo are ok and would like to wish you luck for your exam tomorrow
I had my mobile with me and i was seriously ready to phone '999' if they came near me. After this experience i'll never leave the house without my mobile again.
That's awful Jill. Which park was that? Sounds like they need to learn some manners and how to look after their dogs. People with these kind of attitudes get me so cross.
Loads of dogs come running upto us and I love it and the owners of the dogs and I have a good natter while they are playing
Yes, same here Carroll. Normally i love seeing Leo enjoying himself and the other owner/s and I will have a good old chat while the pups play. Normally talking about the dogs
I think thats why this shocked and scared me so much tonight. I was just so horrified by these owners and their attitude and abuse. Especially from 2 woman around their 40's!
As if we don't have enough to worry about with potential weirdos/muggers when we're out walking on our own. Now we have to contend with toothless simpletons with no manners and, no doubt, not a brain cell between them!
