so today i noticed an oder when shadow came around he's 6 months old right now. he has a yeast infection in his ears and he's on antibiotic drops. anyway not saying these two things are linked . but at first i thought it was his ears but it turns out it's his rear end. i sprayed it down with a hose and it didnt really help. he rubbed his rear on the carpet and sniffed at it.. really disgusting so i got some shampoo and put that all over the area and blasted it off. and it still kinda smells. whats up with that?

Hi Very Happy
It could be that Shadow needs his anal glands emptied or that he needs worming. Its probably a trip to the vets to get him seen too!

I was thinking it was the anal glands too. Sounds like a trip to the vets is needed so they can empty them for you, or see if it is something else

anal glands packed>? does this happen often? he's on a pretty good worm pill that takes care of all parasites once a month so he's straight on the worms.

I'm not sure how often it can happen but the vet can sort them out! Its a pretty smelly job. Usually firm poos empty the glands naturally

Sorry, I'm not sure, I've not had to deal with this condition before. But I think it has to be sorted by the vet , if it doesn't get extracted it could cause an infection I think.. but I'm not completely sure TBH.
Someone else definitly know more Very Happy

Hi Jeremy

Normally when the stools are hard the anal glandsa re emptied naturally, its what leaves the scent dogs love to sniff Laughing

Occasionally after a bout of the runs or an infection, the glands become impacted and have to be emptied, you cna leran to do it yourself or let the vet or doggie parlour do it for you. If however they are infected then you will need a course of AB's
