So.... anyone sharing bloodlines?
Are these bloodlines any good for us showing him?
Or would we be better to get into Field Trials, and how can I find out more about them?
He's only 10 weeks old at the moment and we're novices to showing, although my mum bred and showed springers in Oz, so she's encouranging me to look into our options...
Interesting Pedigree As you know we share the same lines from Anchorman back - his breeding is a mix of working and show, and he has done very well in the ring, and I understand he is now doing very well in the field
Abbeystead - although I am not familiar with their lines, do a lot in the showring
As for the mum's pedigree, I am not so up on my working lines, but there is a much heavier sway towards working lines from mum (although there are some show dogs in there as well).
Can you post any piccies of him for some of the more experienced show people on the forum to see him - you may be lucky to have the choice to go either way
I bought Clover for the showring and although it is early days, she is doing quite well - but she is also very steady with a good nose, and I would be interested to see how she would perform in the field, although have literally NO experience in this area and wouldn't know where to start - JohnW, Di and Kayc are your people for advice in both areas
We are related - Blue by Elouise and Coco by Lasgarn Laudrup at the very least. I'm not familiar at all with the working lines but as Sue said, you have a fair old sprinkling of both in there! Blue comes from a line of trialers and show dogs. Her Great Grandfather, Carromer's Charlie Chalk, was a Dual Champion in France.
Personally I like the pedigree! Some lovely show dogs as Sue has said, but what interests me in the Gunstock dogs To me, Terry and Gaynor Bailey breed some real dual purpose dogs. Whether you call them "Show dogs which work" or "Working dogs which show" would depend on your point of view. The same can be said of Carol and David Coode's Leospring dogs.
The more people who go down the route of really Dual purpose dogs the better. There are not many, but there does seem to be an increase I'm glad to say. (Including our Di) More power to their elbow!
