How many people on here have a child with special needs? i just thought if there were a few we could have a post for support, questions, ideas or just to moan if your having a bad day.

I have a 10 year old daughter with SLD, Autism and challenging behaviour, whom i wouldn't change for the world.

My youngest son Joshua (7) has Coats disease, which is quite rare, It means in basic form that he will go blind in his left eye by the age of about 10.

It doesn't bother him, as his sight has always been very limited in the affected eye, but he will require surgery, just waiting for the date.

He also has a hernia, which is being operated on Wednesday, so please send him some healing vibes for Weds.

All my kids are great, I wouldnt change a thing about any of them,

My eldest son doesn't have educational special needs but has medical special needs. He was born with aortic stenosis and a co-arctation of the aorta. He has had 4 open heart operations and now has an artificial aortic valve plus a human donor pulmonary valve. He's nearly 16 an doing his GCSE's this year. Luckily he's a bright boy who doesn't seem to be affected by time off school.

I work in a school for children with special needs - age range 2 - 19

@@@@@@healing vibes@@@@@@ for Joshua for wednesday

My eldest Jack has Maeres-Irlen Syndrome (possibly dyslexia also) and is under the mental health unit in Harrogate for behavioural problems which are a mixed bag of ODD and ADD Sad

He is hard work but when he is having a good day he is soo funny and fab to have aorund.

I have just taken him out of a city primary school into a village school where he is fairing much better. Very Happy

My youngest has to go for an op at some point in the new year to repair his hydrocele and I know this is going to upskittle Jack as he cannot cope with change very well. Sad

My daughter Stephanie has cerebral palsy left-sided hemiplegic which means that she has limit use and movement of the left side of her body.

She also has asthma and a reflux problem and like you Sharon I wouldnt change her for the world.

This is a good idea about a section on help and support for us, sometimes you just need to speak to someone and have a moan at them and you feel so much better. Getting Kimmy has been a life saver and he has given Steph and us so much undevoted love.

Sharon there is another member of LF who has a special need child and that is Keren (Barnsie) and im sure she will also be for such a section, hopefully she will see this post and make a comment as well.

Also my best friend Jude (JudgeJude) has a son with a serious heart complaint and she does her bit of counciling for the Heart Circle and im sure too that she would love to be able to let off stream on here as well.

It so glad to know that there are other LF members going through the same things. We can help each other.

Ann
