Ive never understood it either. I had a "talk" with a gentleman at the park last week who couldnt understand why i hadnt had Bram put down, hes 6!!! Yes he has bad-ish hips and i have to restrict his exercise (hes a collie) but apart from that hes perfectly fine and happy, we pay quite a lot out in hydrotherapy but i get so much more in return.
Its very sad that these people will never get to know the true relationship that can be had with a dog if you just bother to put in the love

i cant understand some people either, when i had to rehome my first springer polly i felt so awful, but polly had to be rehomed. I have been in my current job now for 4 years and in those 4 years we have had so many dogs come to us, those that arent able to be worked for whatever reason are rehomed, most of the dogs are gifted to us and most are 8mths - 18mths old, and the main reason 'i cant cope', but its always so nice to see the dogs either working or settled into their new homes

Unfortunatley, these kind of people do think exactly like that.
We on here, and other true animal lovers will ensure that their pet's quality of life is good in their golden years
One picture really sticks in my mind which just goes to show that some people really care about their dogs.
We were in the Forest of Dean a couple of years ago, me, OH, Kippa, two friends and their two westies.
We met this couple in a people carrier type vehicle, the door of the car was open. Inside was a very old labrador, but the back of the car was gutted of seats!! just the lab's bed on some carpet, it's food and drinking bowl and other bits belonging to the dog. They had a ramp, so the dog could get out to do it's business easier.
They told us, that since they had the dog, he had always gone on holiday with them and even though it was old and could hardly walk, they were going to make sure it could still go with them and was comfortable.
What a fantastic sight and the dog was very clearly happy
How ace is that!

Wonderful Joo, as we have all said there are so many good, kind people who treat their animals as family members.
Such a shame about the others and so sad for the dogs who have no choice but to be passed around like so much baggage.
