In the local paper today.
THE body of a 63-year-old walker was found in the fells near Keswick yesterday-his pet Labrador dog keeping vigil beside him where he lay.
The discovery of the body of Graham Harper, who had been staying in the Lake District on holiday with his wife, brought to an end one of the most intensive rescue operations for some time.
A group of walkers discovered Mr Harper's body near a disused mine at the head of the Newlands Valley.
He had set off from Hawse End for a walk on the Catbells fells around noon the previous day and the alarm was raised when he failed to return after dark.
During Wednesday night, dozens of members of Lake District Mountain Rescue Teams searched the fells above Derwentwater.
Yesterday even more searchers, drawn from rescue teams across Cumbria, joined in.
Mr Harper, who had been staying in holiday accommodation at Braithwaite, was accompanied on his walk by his two year old dog Sooty.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team leader Mark Hodgson said the dog was standing by the body when it was found.
He said: "It was a tragic end to what proved to be a very extensive search."
Rescuers are awaiting a post mortem to discover whether Mr Harper died as a result of a collapse or a fall.
However he had been under treatment for a long-standing medical condition and concern was expressed that he had set off without his medication.
Mr Harper, who comes from Eastbourne on the South Coast, had walked a similar route in the past.
