I hate this going dark by 5pm.

I cant take Jansen for a run in this darkness !

So just on lead walks, what does everyone else do to keep their pooches entertained ?

I am going to get one of those buster puzzle cube things...

i take mine out for their last walk at 3ish so we get home just before it gets dark Very Happy i have got them flashing lights though for when it gets dark even earlier.

After a nice walk and chasing the tennis ball and swimming or digging, Alfie and Billy sleep more or less all evening Very Happy they wake up for their dinner and then go back to sleep again Laughing

I'm lucky in that I'm at home during the daytime, so I walk my girls when it's light.

When Mojo was on on-lead walks only (after her op for her elbows) I used to put some of her food into a buster cube and let her play with that. I also played hide and seek with her toys around the house and did some basic training indoors too. Rawhide chews and raw beef bones were a god send but I did find they made her put on weight quickly.

We came back from our walk about 3pm. After a cup of tea and a little play it's time to make dinner. Once thats been eaten they go to sleep like now-fast asleep! I'll probably have a play with Amber later as Shep just sleeps, if he wakes up he likes tp have a body massage! They'll go in the garden and later (about 9ish) will get a treat! Very Happy

This is definitely not my favourite time of year, as the days are too short and getting shorter. I tend to find it depressing. Sad

I don't do after dark walks except on a Wednesday evening when we normally walk to dog training class. I take Charlie out for a good hour and a half to two hours exercise earlier in the day whilst it is still daylight.

Some days like you I have no option but to walk Danny in the dark. Even though there are no roads nearby I haven't the confidence to let him off lead in the dark so I use a flexi lead...other times I use it as a training exercise and do some 'street walking' on a short lead.

I try whenever possible to work from hom in the afternoon so I can take him out before it gets dark, but sometimes my schedule doesn't allow this. Sad

I have found that training in the house helps tire him out, so I quite often have half an hour of this before we go out.

I've just got back from my Mum's, who lives 5 minutes away and has a very large garden, after playing 'hide from Mia' with Ellie.

Mum sticks the garden lights on, Ellie and I go and hide and Mia has to find us. Very Happy

The dogs think it's great. Very Happy (Although I'm sure Mia's getting a complex Wink )

Usually OH, who works from home, takes Ellie out during the day, and Mum takes Mia out, as she's home most mornings, if not afternoons.
