Jess is a total bin radier (well she is a lab after all Laughing ) So at the moment I've been keeping the kitchen bin up on the work top to keep it out of her reach but it occurred to me that there must be some bins out there that are 'dog proof' or perhaps even a gadget to put on the bin to prevent dogs opening it?

Just wondered if anyone had come across anything they'd recommend?

I hope so, at the moment we keep our bin behind the stairgate at the bottom of the stairs. I have tried very bin and the little b*ggers have eve learned to press the pedal at the bottom of the bin. I think i have tried every bin on the market. The one we have the moment which has been the better one has a spring lid on it, but when Brodie sticks his head on the bin he gets the lid stuck round his head, so he is running round te house with a bin led wrapped round his head, he always looks so funny Laughing

I have got a petal pedal bin, 30 litre one, which mine can not open.

Not sure whether a touch lid bin would work, would imagine that they could open those.

My bin doesn't even have a lid.. lol.. and Leo still has never once even attempted to touch it or the contents of it..

How about getting a babygate to put accross the kitchen door though if they are really persistant in raiding the bin?

I'm going to be watching this one.. So far I've not come across a bin Yorkie can't open! Not even the push top ones.. He just throws his whole weight at it and actually ended up INSIDE my Mother's! Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes

Charlie is a bin raider too! He can't open the one I use to store his dog food in though. That is like a large, colourful plastic dustbin with metal clips that you pull across the top. He has not managed to work that one out yet.

As for other types of bin, I am afraid I have had no luck. I think OH said he saw a kitchen unit you could buy for storing bins in, but don't know where he saw it. Might ask him later when he comes in.

Helen.

My bin is outside, in the shed!!!! I know its a pain but better than putting things in temptations way - I also wouldn't want them to get hold of something they shouldn't either. But I do have a carrier bag inside my cupboard door so I don't have to make constant trips in the cold and rain!!!

If there is a bin which is dog proof I would love to know.
