Yesterday (Saturday) we drove to the hills near Dalwhinnie to hike the munro Meall Chuaich 951m.
There's snow on the hills near the house above 500m and we saw lots of snow on the hills once we drove north of Perth. The weather was perfect, blue sky and sunshine.
Further north up the A9 (main road to Inverness), there was snow all around.
Corbie was in his element and he didn't stop running and playing in it until we got back to the car, when he finally zonked out
We didn't make it to the summit of the munro, due to light fading, and I was tired... it's hard work slogging through snow anything from a few inches to 3 ft deep at times. I lost count the number of times I fell over as my feet sunk in snow which was a few inches and then the next step it went down a couple of feet One time I lost my balance and fell and my hand sank down so deep I couldn't get up and needed assitance from OH
Here's a selection of photos, there's quite a few - it was just so beautiful!
The corbett Ben Vrackie near Pitlochry
View to Loch Garry from the A9
Entering Badenoch & Strathspey
The hike begins - munro Meall Chuaich is almost in the centre of the photo
Corbie was so excited when he got out of the car and saw the snow!
Corbie in his element!
Me and the pup!
A snowy wave! A split second after I took this, 'Thunder Paws' ran straight in front of me
On the way back down
Loch Chuaich reflects the sunset
It didn't feel that cold until the sun started to set, and on our way back along the path it was all icy. Corbie took great delight in breaking the ice in nearly every puddle
Today we visited the Famous Grouse distillery, it's my OH's birthday. And we had a wee dram - could've done with that up the hill yesterday
