I'm really interested to hear peoples' veiws on this too. Jet is coming up to 9 months now and we have attended weekly training classes since he was 12 weeks old. We have thus far trained with the wait comand, but in the last week or two have started on stay. I have been told that for stay he has to stay until I come back to him, and that I can give him further commands from wait;never recall from stay. But, I'm not totally convinced he needs two seporate commands, in fact what would happen if I needed to call him to me but I had previously told him to stay. I'm confussed on this too, any further info on this would be greatfully recieved

Personally and it is just a personal view, I thought that the two commands would be confusing when they both resulted in me asking for the same thing. Wait/stay resulted in the same action for the dog, 'sit whilst I walk away from you or stand beside you, and don't go anywhere til you get told to.' whether that was me approaching Amber to realease her from the command or giving her another command from a distance. Thats just my slant on things,
