ok not sure if this is in the right topic bit..lol. sorry if it isnt
but i been trying rosze with the *paw* trick
well to begin with i said paw then tapped her right leg she done nothing but licked my ear..lol..
i said paw again then this time tapped her right leg then lifted it again i got a lick of the ear then a bit of crazyness from her.lol.
after getting her to sit again then saying paw and tapping and lifting her paw she slowly lifted it a little so loads of fuss and some nice ham (shhh dont tell OH..lol)
so knowing she was going to get ham her eyes lit up and she sat very very still..lol..
so this time i said paw but didnt touch her just held my hand out..
she lifted her LEFT paw and a proper paw in the air??????
(with the right its just a tiny 4cm of the floor)
she got loads of fuss and more ham but everytime she does it its always on her left??
i dont care what paw she lifts just wondering is it possible for a dog to be a bit like humans and favour one hand/paw more than the other???
Whilst Zadie was recuperating from her op, I taught her paw and she now offers the paw to mirror the hand you hold out (i.e. right paw for left hand, then left paw for right hand). It took her ages to twig paw at all - but once she got it she wouldn't stop . So we had to take a break for a while and now she just does it on cue rather than all the time!
Hehehe Rosze has cracked the paw trick!
Shep seems to lift his right paw mainly. Amber varies, she lifts either the right or left paw then swaps over quickly and becomes really excited (even more so if you tell her to calm down! ) and keeps swapping then if she doesn't get the treat quickly, she sits on her hind legs with two paws in the air! awww bless
ps: I have just noticed in my sig picture she is lifting her right paw!

aww how sweet.
Leo gives left or right paw depending what i ask for.
If i say "Left paw" he will give me his left paw and "Right paw" he will give me his right.
i thought learning paw would be so hard as i have teh other 2 dogs trying to butt in all the time..
she can lift her right paw but its only a tiny lift wereas her left paw is a real huge paw lift..lol..and she will only do teh lil right lift if i tap the right paw wereas the left paw i dont need to touch and get a really great paw..lol..
i know its a tiny thing but she made me proud ignoring the other two when they were trying to steal the ham from me..LMAO...
