I decided to take Rolo out tonight and amazingly she never batted an eyelid while I had her out, even though they were going off all around! I'm wondering if it's because she's still a pup, she seems pretty fearless of most things (apart from the pumpkin the other night!)
Sams was ok to start with then when the really loud bangs went off he went nuts charging round the house barking like l;oon and climbing up at the windows, so for safetys sake we decided to put him in his crate close his door and put his cover over him. He calmed down straight away and slept they have almost stopped now so we have let him back out again, and he's alot calmer.
Shame we can't put our son in ther cos he hates them too he has gone off to bed and put pillow over his head. aww bless him.
It has been ok here aswell and they have been going of literally on my doorstep! we live in a large housing scheme so loads of people all around have been letting them off constantly since about 7 and it has only gone quiet about 20 minutes ago!!! she has been great when it is a super loud one that comes after a spell of quiet then she jumps as do I but then she goes back to whatever she was doing!! she had been loitering at the back door earlier clearly needing to GO otside but there were loads soing off at the tme so i waited then let her out in a gap she answered the call of nature and went to have a sniff around and as she did a horribly whizzy one went shooting up from about 5 houses away and she just ran inside and i followed calmly and closed the door and chatted to my daughter as if nothing was going on she was absolutely fine again once she was inside!! but it is my daughters birthday today and i have let her have two girls over to stay the night and it has been one h£ll of a job trying to get them to stay calm when they hear the fire works they have been jumping onto the couch and shoving the blinds open then doing all the ooos and ahhhhs very exitedly but i managed to keep it too controlled exitment so it wouldn't unerve Sonas!! so far so good she is asleep at my feet as i type and it is all quiet outside now! phew, now for tomorrow!!! don't know if we should go out to watch a display just incase she does freak out on her own even though there have been no signs so far!
I had the radio on LOUD last night and mine weren't bothered but the other night Echo and Ugo were in the garden and some idiot let off a load one and the 2 of them fled into the house
Not looking forward to the next to evenings....its finding a gap in the noise to let the Gang out to do their buisness...
What really annoys me is that I couldn't give the dogs their evening walk last night incase of fireworks going off and frightening them so they were pacing the floor and so was I.....I love our evening walks - it helps me relax after work.
One night a couple of years ago about a week after firework night, Dave had walked up to the shop with Zorro when suddenly loads of fireorks started going off in a garden they were passing. Zorro freaked out and the only way that Dave could stop Zorro from pulling him right over or pulling free of his lead was to sit down on the pavement and hang onto him. Luckily someone saw what was happening and invited Dave and Zorro into their house until the fireworks had finished, but since then we are really careful about not having the dogs away from the safety of our home when its firework time. This must be so restricting for other people with assistance dogs. So many of them have to be retired from service because of fireworks un-nerving them. Hate them, hate them HATE THEM!!

First off Hi everyone i am new to this forum and i love it. I have trained many hunting dogs and the best way to get control is to get your dogs mind off of the noises. Play fetch or something that just get he or she going. And you could record these sounds and continue to play them long after they are gone. Then it will be a familiar sound and all is well. You can buy cd's with loud gun shots that play over and over. We even let them play during sleeping hours. The cd's and the real sounds has worked for me every time. IF you yourself can take listening to it. When my dogs hear bangs they get excited
If you have time Lacey nip down to your chemist or supermarket and buy some Bachs Rescue Remedy. It doesnt work for all dogs but it chills Boo out a treat, I put 4 drops on my hand for her to lick off, it takes the stress away for a while but doesnt make her dopey.
