Fireworks have just started going off nearby and Alfie thinks the bangs are someone invading our house/garden so has been barking and growling the whole time they're going off Shocked

Hows it best to stop this? should i just ignore him, i've tried telling him "NO" but it didn't work Rolling Eyes Billy thinks something must be happening cos Alfie only barks when theres someone at the door or he wants to play so Billy is running around looking for whatever it is Rolling Eyes

Help Laughing

Ignore him Lacey, pretend the Bangs and Whizzes just don't exisit...He'll think you've gone deaf, but if you give him any idea that something's wrong it could make him worse. Rolling Eyes Just act like these things happen every day and it's all perfectly normal. Wink

If he gets really fearful and hides, just leave him there, don't try to coax him out or fuss him in anyway, as this will just reinforce the fear.

I really am grateful I dont have a problem with my two. Jet is completely flat out snoring and 'chasing rabbits' and Willow is washing my toes while I sit here at the computer. Sparky was my only dog with a problem- we just had to pretend we were all deaf and have the TV on loud.

Its such a shame for dogs who cant tolerate the noises. Its not as if its only for a night or two- they have had firework parties here since the late summer- my MIL's dogs are nervous wrecks.

Jolly hockeysticks here too! Fireworks going off in field very close by and Zadie started slinking around - not really scared but some disquiet! So we had Football Icon up extra loud and watched it avidly. She did snooze off eventually. Only 2 more nights to go ......

Poor Babys Alfie and Ruby (and Billy?) Sad

Touch wood, Maggie has been fine so far, but there havent really been that many loud ones. Tomorrow night will be the big test. We have been invited to a bonfire party at my friend's house but my eldest doesn't like them anyway and I need to be here to monitor Maggs so we have declined.
