|
Fireworks have just started going off nearby and Alfie thinks the bangs are someone invading our house/garden so has been barking and growling the whole time they're going off
Hows it best to stop this? should i just ignore him, i've tried telling him "NO" but it didn't work Billy thinks something must be happening cos Alfie only barks when theres someone at the door or he wants to play so Billy is running around looking for whatever it is
Help

Ignore him Lacey, pretend the Bangs and Whizzes just don't exisit...He'll think you've gone deaf, but if you give him any idea that something's wrong it could make him worse. Just act like these things happen every day and it's all perfectly normal.
If he gets really fearful and hides, just leave him there, don't try to coax him out or fuss him in anyway, as this will just reinforce the fear.

I really am grateful I dont have a problem with my two. Jet is completely flat out snoring and 'chasing rabbits' and Willow is washing my toes while I sit here at the computer. Sparky was my only dog with a problem- we just had to pretend we were all deaf and have the TV on loud.
Its such a shame for dogs who cant tolerate the noises. Its not as if its only for a night or two- they have had firework parties here since the late summer- my MIL's dogs are nervous wrecks.

Thankfully the fireworks have now stopped here but i'm sure there will be more Alfie didn't seem scared, just thought someone was invading his garden and was trying to warn them that there was a very viscious dog living here so P*** off
Poor Ruby if only they could talk and we could explain to them what all these bangs are
