Posted: Wed Oct 25, 2006 9:25 am Post subject: Thread Titles when posting - Please Read V. IMPORTANT |
  |
|
With new members joining the site everyday, I've updated this post.
The full Forum Rules can be read at the following link, but outline a few pointers below:
http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/forums-rules.html
When creating titles for posts please can you make them as descriptive and as close to what the thread will be about as possible. This will make it easier when people are searching the forum for a specific problem / behaviour / health matter, etc, to be able to find any previous posts relating to the same or similar problem.
- When posting, DO NOT give your topic a title of:
- HELP ME PLEASE!
- I NEED HELP!
- I have a question.
- BIG problem!
- NOOB needs help!
- Problems
- URGENT!
- HELP ME PLEASE.
or anything similar to the above.
BE SPECIFIC in choosing a title for your post. It can help us better help you.
If you use a title that is generalized and not specific, it MAY be removed altogether
Also if there's a problem relating to, for example, eyes then try and not just put 'Eyes' in the title, but a description of problem such as 'Gooey Eyes', 'Sore Red Eye'.
As moderators we will edit titles if we feel it necessary to give more information which will enable other members to see your post who may otherwise overlook it.
Many posts with titles such as those given above tend to get overlooked and make it more difficult when searching for specific problems.
- When you post, post as much information as you can, so that members can better help you with your query/problem.
- Posting a topic 3 or 4 or 5 times will not get you a quicker response...it will more than likely get No response.
- Please try to only start New topics as necessary. If a similar topic exists, please post in it. It will move that topic to the top of the list and your post will be seen. It also is a good idea since there may be a few users subscribed to that posts notification.
Use the Search facility to see if there is already an answer to your problem/question on the forums, or if a thread already exists that you can post on.
- Post your topic in the respective forum. Neglecting to do so will get your topic moved or even removed!
Thank you for your understanding, and help to keep the forums running smoothly and efficiently.

Ooh, sorry guys, I know I've been a bit guilty of that on occasions. Descriptive titles only from now on

I agree. I'm forced to skip through most threads simply because I don't get the time, but I try to read anything I think I might be able to help with. But I miss a lot because the title does not catch my eye, or because I think I've already answered a post who's title is almost the same as that on another thread.
I know I'm a poor old timer so please make things easy for me.
All the best, John

Good one Karen, I am probably guilty of that one myself.
