Hi
This post is a moan really and a request for advice.
We started our Silver today, new dogs and new people. Mia was a nightmare to settle. 10 mins into the class we where approached by a year old male who straight away tried to mount Mia (not sure who was most shocked me or her ), his mum could hardly pull him off, our trainer had to help her.
20 mins into the class, doing off lead walking he tried to mount her again, this time Mia rolled over, again it took his mum & trainer to pull him off.
Not to bore you but this kept happening, Mia now sitting down protecting her womanhood each time he approached, the trainer as now told his mum to get a grip on her dog.
After 3 attempted rapes, Mia fed up and now training going down hill fast, both her and me wanting to come home.
On this weeks behavior, I have no idea how this dog passed the Bronze and is on our course, if his mum cannot control him, he should not be there after all it's a Silver Class !!!!!!!!!!!!
Should I ask to be moved into another class or should I see how it goes.
dont know alot about seasons are the 6mnth timings for seasons definate?? is there any possibility it could come early?? i just cant thing y this dog would be so obsessed how annoying for u & mia!! if he is just a humper i cant see how u will get any training done as u will both be tense the whole time ive been quite lucky with my 2 boys neither if the are humpers mambo jumped on the bandwagom once at a gt the others were all at it he didnt want to be left out n the first night mylo was here they spent most of the evening humping eachother but thats the only times ive seen them do it ....
have a word with ur trainer n try to find out if it a regular occurance with this dog i dont really know wot else to suggest
Ohhhh Poor Mia....The things us girls have to suffer sometimes .
I must confess I can't stand humpers if they are humping for no apparent reason.
I think I would have had words with the woman myself, or at the very least made it very clear that I was not happy. I would ask your trainer if she could move the woman to a different class (I don't see why you should put yourself out, as Mia did nothing wrong). At the very least I would stand as far away from the woman as was humanly possible.
Jumping on top of and virtually raping a bitch, in my eyes, is just as frightening for her as if he had been aggressive towards her and so it should be treated the same.
Is this dog entire or neutered? It doesn't always make too much difference, but maybe an entire male would be more likely to display this type of behaviour.
Charlie is neutered, but he still tries his luck sometimes (with both males and females ). He is certainly a headstrong character, and can be difficult so I may well have to actually go and grab hold of him in order to bring his attention back onto me . In class he is mostly on the lead, but sometimes problems can occur when we do exercises where they are off lead. That said though, he is pretty good 80 - 90% of the time these days.
I still think that those who are suggesting a dominance problem with this dog could be right, because my own is just such a character. Fortunately for me, though, he remains reasonably eager to please too. Speak to the trainer anyway.
This boy still has all his bits. And so has my Mia. we wanted to wait till after her 1st season b4 getting her done. I then started with the training so we decided to wait, not sure if that was a good idea now !!!!!
