at what age did u start or complete the kc bronze with your dog. reason i ask is that bailey is training for his bronze, and while he is almost perfect at home, he is miles off the mark at training. wondering if maybe he is too young, and we shouldnt have too much expectation. all other dogs at training are at least 3-4 months older. Bailey is 24 weeks old, so not even 6 months yet. He passed his beginner course and then his kc puppy foundation course, but seems to be a little too lively at the moment
Just checked out certs... I did Tia and Bailey together... just 2 days in age difference... they were 7months... but would have done it earlier just need to wait on the tester... I was doing gundog training with Tia and Bailey and at 29 weeks was already on double blind retrieves....both went straight on to do their silver the same night...
Terri passed her puppy foundation cert last week... she is 12 weeks...
Hi wendy,
Dudley passed his bronze on his 4 month 'birthday' and Echo passed at 4 months too...they both had gold by the time they were a year old. Ugo on the other hand.....failed his bronze at 6 months and still isn't mature enough to do the 1 minute 'stay' They are all different and it would be very boring if they weren't!
Love becs and the Gang
Ruby was 9 months old when she did bronze but as kay said ew too had to wait for the tester - she was ready for a few months before that and theplan was for hr to take silver the same time as bronze but the tester ran out of time on the day
Mojo did her Bronze at 6 months, then went straight on to do her Silver training and test and then the Gold, because the club runs them concurrently once a year. So she had all of hers under her belt before she was a year old.
We had pups as young as 4 months and as old as 4 years in our Bronze class. All dogs are different and mature at different rates. A lot were not put in for the Silver or Gold because they were slower to pick up what was required, but they would have had the chance to try again the next year.
Baxter's 1 and still doesn't have his, I changed training classes and they test once a year, we joined three weeks after they'd been
I really wouldn't worry about it, it's just a piece of paper and doesn't mean he can't do it if he hasn't got it! Just keep going to training and practising and the results will be the same. Our class just carries on regardless - we now do lots of silver and some gold stuff too, and just see where everyone's up to when the testers come round again!
I wish we had something like this it sounds nice to have some sort of certificate to accompany the work yourself an the dog put in!! what exactly is involved in each stage so I can guestimate if she could do it or not!!!!?
Thanks vickie I will have a lok at that when I get back walkie time just now!!! what is hth??? ussually ok with all the terms but cant think of that one!
