Excellent! Perhaps I will try that way then instead of trying top get him to stop I will just try to get him to do a single bark instead!
Fingers crossed!

ooo i do this with mine..
ok here we go
easy part he is doing now he barks at the bell GREAT..
right you need a freind to start with to push bell..lol..
ok bell pushed lionel WOOF you praise him then tell him sit and then tell him quiet/shush/enough (whatever word is easy for you) DO NOT open the door until he is quiet once quiet treat him or praise him..then open door if he starts to bark close the door tell him sit and quiet again....
i know if its someone you dont know you have to open the door..lmao. but for training purposes with freind DONT OPEN until he is quiet..
if need be on strangers shut him in living room until he is trained to be quiet on comand at the door....
hopefully after say 3 weeks he will want to be queit at the door so he gets to see who it is...
took me about a month to teach brandy (and loads of batterys for bell..lol) it charlie on the other hand is stubborn and refuses to do it..lmao.. rosze just doesnt bark.. but brandy im pleased with she does it all the time it also comes in handy if they start barking in the garden aswell..lol..
for the speak part if i have her toy i tell her to *speak* and she will bark at me then i tell her enough and she shuts up..lol..

It took me ages to get Stormy to bark at all. I was beginning to accept that he would never bark. However, he use to winge a lot and that drove me nuts, so I taught him the "quiet". I did this by waiting for him to go quiet and then saying good boy to be quiet and giving a treat. He picked this up real fast, but I am still working on the "speak". This is harder as he never barks at the door, he only barks if he sees something as a threat, like someone at the back of the garages or a neighbour on a roof, so I go out and say good boy to speak and give him a treat, but I have yet to get him to do it on command. I want him to bark when someone knocks the front door, but so far everything I have tried has not worked
