Oh my goodness, how on earth do I stop Paddy barking...... Mad

Honestly the kid always barks - he barks whenever I am in the kitchen incase he is going to get a treat (he doesnt unless he stops barking) he barks at the other dogs if they have something he wants, he barks at the TV - all the time bark bark bark and its a really whiney bark which goes straight through you....!!

We have tried everything, treats when he is quiet, time outs everything - I swear he is the devil in disguise....

Remind me again why I thought it was a good idea to have 3 dogs Wink

Everything i was going to suggest it looks like you have tried Rolling Eyes
i was going to suggest time out, what about totally ignoring the barking turn your back on him.
I have been ignoring Abbey when she barks to go for a walk and she has stopped now as she dont get any response so no point in doing it !!!!

Hope you manage to stop Paddy barking so much.

I'm having the same problems with Poppy. She barks very loud if I am the over side of the gate or I go upstairs. I know its because she wants to be with me and can't get to me but I do have cleaning etc to do!!!

I'm trying the ignoring at the moment like Lorri-Ann has suggested so hoping it might become quieter in the house!!! But mornings at 5am are becoming stressful and very tiring Sad

I saw a lady on the TV recently, a series about dog's problems, this dog was barking ALL the time. She turned and faced him, and with a treat in her hand, she waited until he stopped barking, said 'stop barking' and gave him a treat.

She did this over and over again, until he stopped AFTER she said stop barking!! Very Happy It really worked! Good luck! Wink

he went mental and i couldnt control him

i had treats in my hand and tried to offer that he ignored it
i dont know if he just wants to play as soon as he sees another dog or if its something else

i tried to make him sit and stop but nothing worked
ive just come home and put him in time out
and had a big cry Crying or Very sad im at my wits end
i dont know what to do anymore

im sure im one of those dog owners that people cringe at when they see me coming Crying or Very sad

oh bless them are they all puppies? i assume so from the pictures so apologies if not.

Ruby used to be a NIGHTMARE she would jump up at everyone we met not sit nicely not do anything pick up dead things choke herself be sick howl you name it.

Just keep doing what you are doing and be calm I used to get really stressed and it whizzes down the lead and they get all confused as to whats going on. I used to just do the opposite thing to what they wanted ie pulling towards another dog walk in the opposite direction therfore no reward for doing it.

Be persistnat it will all work out

Oh Shona - we had this with Millie but she was going into season (we didn't know).

I did ask for help and I was told to let Millie do whatever she wanted but you just stand there completely ignoring the behaviour. Don't even look at her. Don't put stress on the lead either, just let her carry on. This way she will find that that beahviour gets her nowhere. Now she is in season we haven't taken her out so we don't know if this is her normal beahviour or not yet Rolling Eyes

And Vicky, you say you used to take Rubes in the opposite direction, but surely you would have been giving Rubes the impression that dogs were to be barked at ? Confused Its like crossing a road when you see a stranger and you know your dog will give a reaction to seeing that stranger. Do you see where I am getting at?

Yes Sonia see your point and to be honest she never barked at dogs only pulled towards them thats when we used to walk in the opposite direction.

The barking was reserved for us at home to be honest
