I have a new kittie which I housed temporarily in an unused puppy crate. It's worked brilliantly to protect him from the dogs. The cat has a carrying crate for his bed and a litter tray plus food and water. He doesn't really need it now as he gets on fabulously with both dogs.

I need to use the crate need week for my new puppy so the cat will be relegated to the kitchen BUT Coco has taking to going into the crate when it is open and helping herself to the contents of the litter tray - the fresher the better. It's driving MOH insane as her breath smells bl**dy aweful afterwards and she always tries to kiss him ( Laughing Laughing ).

I am not really that bothered about this, it is fairly natural behaviour I believe and both cat and dogs are regularly wormed etc but I need hints on how to discourage her as next week the litter tray will be even more easily accessible for those little "snackettes".

Awwww dogs do love a nice fresh "Kittie Cookie" don't they Rolling Eyes .

I've got a littertray with a roof on for my cats, so the dogs can't get to the tasty smackerals quite so easily Wink . I still find it better to make sure that the tray is kept as free of poop as poss (I know no-one has eyes in the back of their heads though) and I put the tray somewhere where it isn't so accessible for the dogs (like the bathroom upstairs).

Kittie Cookie breath is never good, is it...Yuck

Jansen loves those treats !

He had one yesterday, we keep our litter tray in one of the spare bedrooms, but sometimes he manages to sneak upstairs before I can catch him !

I think just put the tray somewhere the dogs cant get to it is the best thing.

good luck.

Whilst out walking in Windsor Great Park yesterday, Harvey started eating horse poo. Don't know why they do it though. The kids screamed at him - they were so horrified that their pup could be so revolting!!

Guess it's instictive.
