Can anyone help with some of BJ's family please? I have heard of some of the names in his pedigree but I can't find any information on others. I'll just list as far as gt gt grand parents. He's on enforced rest at the moment and is getting bored and restless, I think his background is pretty heavy on working, so I'll have to find something for him to do without hurling about as normal !!
PARENTS
Brockweir Flycatcher
Loxhore Fern of Lannaker

Strad Benis
Brockweir Bumblebee

Mmm. Interesting pedigree. I'll be back later in the day when I've time to relax. There is one of my favourite dogs in there 10 or 12 generations back.
Regards, John

Oh thanks everyone, that's very interesting because some of your dogs that are related to BJ are the names I can't find any information about.
Do any of you know any more of the Tibea or Swinshail lines? They seem to appear as gt gt grand parents but then no more recent dogs.
Many thanks for your replies.

OK Fay, It's a very good working pedigree. Most of the well known dogs I've spoken about at one time or another, but there is one dog I want to talk about. There are a lot of different spellings, but it is actually Shinshail Apache. A Field Trials Champion born in 1978, his pedigree is well worth studying.
On the face of it he was solid Field Trials, BUT. . . . . . Apache’s great grandsire was Kimbo of Ardmargha. Ardmargha is the affix of Mr and Mrs H W Clayton and is one of the very old affixes in the breed. Their very first Labrador, Finn of Ardmargha was born the same year as me. (those in the know can now work out how old I am!)
Kimbo was a yellow dog, born 25/5/66 and became a show champion at the end of 1966 after winning 3 CC’s in just 3 months! Later Kimbo was trialed and was awarded a certificate of merit in the Labrador Retriever Club’s 2 day all age stake in 1969. Quite a record for a show dog!
But I want to go back further, back to two of my own personal favourites. His GG Grandsire on the dog line, born in 1954 was the lovely Diant Juliet. Juliet won 15 CC’s including Best of Breed at Crufts in 1958. Although I love bitches I must say I love her sire, Champion Diant Swandyke Cream Cracker!
The second dog, a GG Granddam on Kimbo’s bitch line was Champion Whatstandwell Coronet. Born in 1951 he was the son of Whatstandwell Hiwood Brand. Brand was bred by E Winter as Hiwood Brand and sold to Mr and Mrs Taylor who added their “Whatstandwell” affix to him to good effect, making him up to Field Trials Champion! My kind of dog! You will often see photos of these dogs in old Labrador books.
Kimbo is also an interesting example of line breeding. His sire was Diant Jaysgreen Jasper who’s sire was our old fathfull, Sandylands Tandy. Tandy’s sire of course was Tan who’s sire was S. Tweed of Blaircourt who’s sire was Margi Cairns Ruler of Blaircourt. Kimbo’s dam was Sandylands Komely of Ardmargha. Komely dam was Sandylands Truth who’s sire was again Sandylands Tan. Interesting that Tandy was missed out of the chain! All I can tell you was that the mating was on Gwen Broadley’s advice and was actually the result of a repeat mating. That piece of information came from Richard Edwards wonderful book.
As to your other question, Tibea is the affix of Mr R A Watson of Shipton on Stour.
Regards, John
