oh dear Natalie sorry I have no advice just hope someone can help - I have just been doing all the usual ice blocks paddling pools and wet towels and so far Ruby is fine. It must be hotter in your neck of the woods if all that isnt working for you.

I must admit I would be tempted to take them for a drive in the car with air con on full blast just to ease them a bit.

Hi Nat - Not sure what to recommend regarding keeping them cool as it seems you're doing everything you can Confused The only thought I have is that maybe they're predicting a storm? Apparently it's going to be thundery in most places today. Just a thought. Wink

Hi Nat...

Bailey had an unfortunate episode at the beginning of the week and he had the beginnings of heat stroke......

I have the plasters bath in the garden which is 3/4 full and both boys are made to go in there at regular points during the day to get soaked...... by use of dropping in a frozen bottle of water Laughing

I them bring them in and make them lay down on a blanket still soaked. We are also using an air cooler that uses freezer blocks so we have cold air being fired about.

Neither are allowed to run anywhere/play or exert themselves in anyway. Plenty of ice being offered and a little kibble sprinkled in a huge bucket of cold fresh water to make sure they drink plenty.

Since i have been doing that the boys seem to have settled down and no more accidents Laughing Laughing

HTH

I have phoned the vet and he has recommended that I cover Jack with cold towels and in a dark room with a fan on, which I have just been doing, but he is still panting, like a good un!

He did't want to go out to the toilet this morning either, I wonder if it could be the beginnings of a thunder storm he can sense?

Jack and Maia have been on very short walks, in the coolest part of the days, swimming in cold ponds and no chasing balls, there isn't a lot more I cna do really other than installing AC..argghh

I NEED SLEEP!! lol

So sorry to hear they are struggling Natalie. I have no constructive advice at all - I'm sure you've done everything you know how. Is there a thunderstorm imminent which could be adding to their stress? It must be awful for them in this heat.

I had to get up to Dan a couple of nights ago - he is in a crate in our sitting room with all the windows open, but I could hear him panting away. So I let him out of his crate so he could sleep on the concrete floor - funny thing was he tucked himself back up in his crate even though the door was open.

I'm sorry I'm not very helpful - you just feel so helpless not being able to relieve them at all. Is there a shady tree in the garden they can lie under where there may be some more breeze?

I hope they have a better day today - it is going to cool down from tomorrow I think.

Sending chilly vibes to you......>>>>>~~~~~

i have heard putting frozen bottles of water behind a fan can help by making the air fanned out cooler. I have been hozing my two esp under the belly and neck/ears as there is less fur it is more effective to cool them.
