Hi
Rolo for the past about 6 weeks is beginning to drive the family mad with his night time barking. He is fine going to bed but if you get up in the night or make a sound he is forever barking. We've tried ignoring him BUT he barks that much and loud he wakes everyone up so finally we have to come and shout at him. The lack of sleep is not helping us as a family. Everyone is afraid to move in a morning incase it sets him off. My youngest daughter has a disability and needs her sleep but cant. My husband has health problems and this is just not helping. Hes even suggested we buy a muzzle for him at night (the dog not my husband!)
He might want to sleep on the couch as well but Jess was like this and I gave up and left her cage door open and since then apart from her being hot she loved to be able to sleep wherever she wanted
Sorry Wendy, I don't want to highjack your post, but I'm having a similar problem, only the barking isn't started by a noise - Danny just barks and he doesn't stop...
No didn't and doesnt touch anything at nighttime. Only in the daytime when she wants to be a minx. Best thing we did as we get a lovely sleep and her bed is in our room as well so she comes and goes whenever she wants. Thankfully the nightime wees have stopped as well
If I let Rolo sleep on the couch im sure he would chew it!!! He loves to pinch things hes not allowed and I am also sure that Cadbury and him would love to 'play' at a very strange time!!
If we get up, or go to the toilet at night Max doesn't bark at all - just occasionally at strange noises outside or if son is late coming home and we are in bed.
If he does bark, he doesn't "go on" too much. He sort of shouts loudly once or twice, then humphs a few times.
If allowed to sleep at the top of the stairs on a blanket he doesn't bark at all - just wanders in each room a couple of times each night (he have wooden floors upstairs and I hear him)
My Jack Russell Flo sometimes barks at night if she hears something outside (paticularly bl**dy cats fighting or calling!) I normally shout down to her to be quiet, or if that fails, I come down and give her 'the look'
Sorry I can't offer any advice, but I can sympathise. I would say though that it probably won't help to do anything that wil stress Rolo out at all or you could find that the problem actually gets worse.
Love Becs and the Gang
Its the early in the morning barking which does my head in - milk floats, vans, old ladies who like to get up at the crack of dawn and have very loud conversations right outside our house D & G never used to bark at them - but Millie does and it sets Doobs off then Gracie whines to get out of her crate. It was 6am when thye decided to get us both up this morning
Just when we had it cracked with Gracie - Millie starts (the minx)
I am in the process of teaching what quiet means at the mo as I can't let this carry on!
