Oh Carroll,

Majic does like to make you worry doesn't she, I'm hoping that it is just the heat and she just can't be bothered to take the time to eat. Fudge is off her food too, but I think hers is heat related as if I give her it late, it was 9pm last night she ate it no probs.

Sending (((((((((Hugs)))))))))) to you all

If Majic is sulking then she could be adjusting to having Dex around. I'm convinced Shep still sulks because of Amber. It will take time and hopfully like you say will sort itself out. Very Happy

This is an interesting one Carroll! frustrating for you though, I would say that the heat is probably one factor, Maggie has hardly touched her food over the last few days until the evenings.

The pack thing? No idea. Think we need our John to come along - I'm sure he would have some advice!!

Unfortunately I can't offer any real advice Carroll, only to say that it may be a combination of the heat and adjusting to Dex's arrival...although I'm not an expert!!!

Hope she's back to normal (whatever that is) soon. Very Happy

hi carroll, i can onlyhelp you from experience with my own dogs and the fosters i have come in, im no expert either, if majic was a dominant female believe me youd know it, so its therefore possible that she knows her place is below dex and would be happier if you helped her be there, by feeding dex first ect, you can only try, if it doesnt help then it probably is the heat, or maybe too much of a good thing and now shes bored of barf and fancies a change Laughing Laughing

Well my obs of the 2 of them are as really don't know what a dominanat female would be like Embarassed

1) Majic initiates all play and Dex always rolls over submissevely unless he trys his luck and tries to hump her, she barks at him to play and paws his face.

2) She is the vocal one Dex is quiet only showing his voice when Majic gets too much.

3)She sleeps on Dex's bed with no grumbles from Dex but then he sleeps on her bed which she didn't like but now wants back.

4)Dex follows me around all day and sleeps at my feet or very close to me

5)If I mention Dex's name she comes running to me

There will be others but can't think at mo Very Happy

Any ideas?

the main times when its apparent that beauty is the dominent dog in our house is meal times, everyone else is quite happy to watch me excitedly as im dishing up, but put her in the mix and the fur flies, so i have to put her in her cage while im putting the food out and for her to eat . the other time is when ive got a new foster who tries to get to my husband first when he comes home from work, she wont allow that either. once they know thier place she doesnt have a problem with them, and gets on lovely with them as long as they dont push their luck! Laughing
she plays submissivly with the other dogs
she doesnt bark much
she shares her bed with the pup
so i dont think any of these things are a dominance thing, once everyone knows their place is below her shes quite happy for everyone to do their own thing , apart from food!

I have no advice to offer you Carroll but I just wanted to say that Pheebs has been off her food as well over the past week. I think it's a combination of the weather and her teething to be honest - she is her same spritely self just a bit more chewy. I know Maj is too old to be teething so I am not for one second saying it's that Rolling Eyes but it could well be the weather.

Good luck - hope they are having fun together Very Happy

Well tonight Majic did eat and what I did was to feed Majic first in the garden and shut the garden gate so Dexter couldn't get in, then after she had finished Dexter got his food and they both wolfed the lot down (but Dex does anyway).

But what have noticed (maybe reading too much into this) is that Majic licks Dex's mouth after he has had a drink or eaten and cleans his face Shocked and he allows her to do this.

Majic is always dominant in play and Dex is very submissive and gentle.

Anybody any thoughts on this one?
