that is more than i am worrying already,

for the last two days he has had diarrhea not lots but has lost his bowels in the kitchen overnight and also while we have been out at work, just the once on every occasion, he has seemed bright enough in himself and certainly still wants to eat, though we have only given him pasta and egg, tonight he has started to be sick too, just yellow bile, he still wants his tea and i have put him some boiled rice on, I have to feed him in order for him to have his epilease as this must not be given on and empty tummy, so what do you think, should i leave him and see how he goes?? or do you think things should of been calming down now and i should be seeking the vets advice??

thanks in advance for your help, oh and any get well vibes for him would be greatly appreciated

Sheila, in a normal healthy dog i would say starve 24 hrs and re introduce food, but main concern is that is he is being sick, is he absorbing the medication he is on properly?

I would pick up the phone to your vet (as much as I hate to say it) and ask for some advice

For sure I would starve him Sheila. Then egg n rice or pasta for 24 hours then back to food if all goes to plan.

Sorry to hear Zak is unwell. I am a born worrier and probably rush to the vets too often but due to Zak's epilepsy I wouldn't know whether you should go or not.

Hope he's back to normal soon

I too would give the vet a call. There seem to be a lot of bugs going around at the moment - Martha's just had gastroenteritis - and if Zac isn't absorbing his medication you could be adding to the problem.

I'm not normally a "rush to the Vets" type person but knowing Zaks background and knowing he needs his meds with food, I'd give the vet a ring and see what he/she suggests.

I suggest the vet too Sheila, given that you can`t starve him as you normally would and he needs to keep those meds down, the vet can hopefully give him an anti emetic to help him, as for the other end I guess like most labs he could have eaten something while out?

thank you all, and yes i think i will be giving the emergency vets a quick call, at this moment i am not worried that he has not absorbed his medication, as he was neither sick nor poo'ing within half an hour of him having them, the pheno takes 20mins to get into his system and the epilease has a longer half life so though he has to eat to take it it, it does stay in his system longer and he could afford to miss a dose of that without too much problem, i am just concerned that its not getting any better and its been nearly 48 hrs since he first started having the diarrhoea, and now being sick as well, am i right in thinking he should be feeling better by now not the symptoms going worse,

by the way, typically lab like, he has just eaten all of the boiled rice with his epilease in so he doesn't appear to be off his food, in fact to all intents and purposes he doesn't seem to be ill in any other way which is also puzzling Rolling Eyes

Thats what suggests to me that he`s snaffled something on a walk, its making its e=way through his system and is hopefully more out than in by now but I`d give the vets a call just to be on the safe side Smile
