Decided to give sadie her first RMB today...still have loads of JWB left but thought there's no harm in getting her used to them. I did TRY to hold onto the end but in fearing for my fingers i let go and she more or less swallowed it whole - please tell me this won't harm her? She was chewing it at the start but soon as I let go it was gone down the hatch!
So different from amber who likes to dance around her food and seduce it a bit before she eats it!
____________ Big licks,
Claire, Chris, Amber and Sadie
RMBs are Raw Meaty Bones; JWB is James Wellbeloved kibble, the food sadie is currently on to use it up!
And yes, I will have to get gloves - she was chomping her way closer and closer to my finger! Either that or give her a bigger bone next time...hope it doesn't come out whole, or worse, get stuck?!
She does see amber eating but they are just totally different in that respect, amber has always savoured her food and never tries to snatch, whereas being the 'underdog' so to speak, sadie takes her chances when she gets them!

Don't worry Claire - Pheebs quite regularly swallows chicken wings in what I call "whole". She will crunch them twice maybe 3 times then swallows.
Wendy, Julia's (Jubato) puppy swallowed one virtually whole a few weeks ago and Julia panicked a bit like you have ( ) and Kayc said she would be absolutely fine. Sorry didn't mean to laugh but I have been in that place - it's funny now but boy oh boy is it scary at the time!
As long as it it covered in meat the bones won't damage her on the way down - obviously you DO want her to crunch them before swallowing so continue to try and hang on to the end of the wing, just so she learns that she HAS to chew before swallowing Before long she will get the hang of it
As Lucy says Claire, Sadie will be just fine, chicken wings disappear down CJ`s throat faster than I can give them to him!, same with legs etc, in fact anything he gets, can only slow him down a tad with a Lamb or Gammon Shank
Thankfully, from day one, Clover has always crunched and never tried to swallow it whole but as others seem to have had similar experiences, sound like everything will be fine
