Hi All,

We like to have a few trained first aiders about for our big day - do we have anyone who is trained who will be coming to the GT who would be willing to help if need be?

I've done the course, but it's expired now.. it's always good to know there is someone else standing by.

(We'll bring first aid kit etc)

Thanks in advance

Julie

Reminds me of when I trained as a first aider in my first job - I got nominated Rolling Eyes along with 3 men in the office, even though I said I'd be no good, being v squeemish... we all went a pale shade of green/blue during a video presentation... sorry, not helping am I lol

Where can you get your first aid certificate?
I've glanced at techniques in books and it looks really interesting. Very Happy

I think you can often go to them in the evenings at schools/colleges, I remember seeing it listed when I've got prospectus through for evening courses.

Laughing Lacey yeah anyone who decides to pop their bundle out on the day will be fine Very Happy you have meeeeeee Very Happy

Not sure if I can act as an official first aider in any other circumstance though. I wouldn't be insured for a start and that in itself presents a massive problem - both in terms of the person I would be helping and my employment.

If it was a genuine "accident" and I happened to be walking past then under the Midwife Rules of Professional Practice I have a duty of care to the injured party but with all the litigation nowadays we are advised (unofficially) to NEVER volunteer ourselves in an emergency Confused

I have to say that my registration means far too much to me to be called an "official first aider" but I would be happy to be "just walking past" at the time of a serious incident/accident. I think at the end of the day an ambulance is only a phone call away and that should be the first port of call if someone needs medical attention. Sorry to put a dampner on things Sad it's just my professional opinion.
