Default Our 14 week old puppy walking issues

Hi

We have a 14 week old puppy (George) that is doing almost everything "the norm" looking at the excellent information in the forums. All the information has been very useful to us - thank you.

We started to take George out for a walk once we were allowed after the 2nd jab. All appeared to be fine for 2 weeks or so, then for the last couple of weeks we get about 20 metres away from the house he starts to jump up and attempts to bite our legs/knees quite eagerly. He then basically refuses to do anything - apart from wanting to head back home. There has been nothing that we can recall that has startled him, he was really friendly with any other dogs and/or people we saw and loved the attention he was getting.

We were thinking about driving somewhere totally different and attempting to walk him in a field to see if its an issue with something near us.

Has anyone come across this problem before or could anyone offer advice please ?

Many thanks
Mark

The world is a big place with lots going on that can be daunting all of a sudden at any point for a pup of any age.
Driving out is a good idea.
If he is small enough to carry you could also carry him out and away from the house for a bit and then sit and watch the world or have a play for a while before walking him home.

I found in the first few weeks with Cola walks consisted of us going more or less nowhere!

It was out going a few steps, back again. Cross the road, teaching a sit, walk another wee bit and then home.

I took her out in the evenings to practice off lead walking which was easier than the loose lead but it did take ages for us to actually go on 'proper walks'

I would just take it really slow for a while, it's always really tempting to go for 'walks' but I think as long as they are getting used to being on the lead and being taught how to be calm then distance doesn't really matter for a while
