My Lab x, Morgan, has a nose condition as well. I've tried keeping a diary of what she eats, what is in season in terms of plants, what the weather has been like on that day and what her nose is like but I can't seem to find the cause of it. I've taken her to numerous vets and all they've given me are steroids and anti allergy pills, these help and show signs of improvement but as soon as the course is finished the condition returns. She has the dry and cracked nose with big flakes as well as dry flakes which almost look like blisters right up the bridge of her nose and her nostrils look inflammed. She doesn't seem to be itchy though as she rarely scratches. I've been applying barrier creams, coconut oil and sunblock regularly during the day and night to try and help but it never really improves, just seems to help with the very dry bits. Please let me know if you've heard of a similar condition? She eats out of ceramic bowls and drinks filtered water just in case, but these haven't seemed to change a thing. We are from a town just outside of Durban, in South Africa. Also, not sure if it's important but it only appeared after she turned 2. She is now 3 and it is still very much present.

It would certainly be worth while trying the DNA test for Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis. It might help you know what you are dealing with. Have a look at the link below.

Or you could try DDC (vetdnacenter.com) which is much cheaper for the same test :-)
