Default Endecott Shelf - info wanted.

Hi,

We are the proud owners of Kelland Black Jessie (Britain's Top Dog ch4 2006 - sorry I had to get that in as I'm still dead chuffed )and have been given the name of Andy Latham and Endecott Shelf as a potential sire. I'd like to hear from anyone who knows anything about this dog and its history. Andy if your reading this feel free to add your own thoughts.

thanks in advance

Hi welcome to the forum...

Can you just clarify, which Top Dog competition have you been crowned for? Channel Four TV? Is your dog a Labrador? Presumably yes... so which field did she win in? Field Trials? Just trying to iron the wood for the trees...

Shelf is a superb performing dog, I wouldn't think Andy is on the forum as it is about 90% pet ownership here rather than competitors but you never can tell!

I think its unlikely he or anyone else would offer their dog up for examination on here so maybe leaving a private email address might encouraghe a response but I would say a call to him would be prudent if you are considering his dog at stud. He may well have stipulations you need to clear for consideration for his boy.

Presumably your girl is hip scored, elbow scored and eye tested ...

I am just a little baffled as to which 'top dog' she is as I haven't myself heard of Ch4 2006..... d I knw the highest ranking bitch Field Trial dog, Working Trials dog and Show dog for 2006 but not this comp?

I am probably being daft not to know this.... ;-) I often am....

Think it was a competition held on Channel 4 last year, hosted by Liza Tarbuck to find Britain's top dog??

(sorry if that's not correct Jessiebtd but it's the first thing that came to mind ops: )

Oh Ok, I did think maybe Channel Four was involved somewhere... anyone know, or would love to know to put it more politely, what the dogs had to do? was it just for Labs or all breeds?

Found this on Britains Top Dog Di, at least the competition

"Canine competition in which dogs are tested in three disciplines: agility, scent-tracking and "doggy dancing" (or heelwork to music, as it's known to the cognoscenti). "

There were a few threads about it on here (I just searched 'britains'-too many threads with the word 'dog' in them  ) I didn't watch it but those who did said Jessie was lovely and very good!
Well done to you and Jessie XX

Thank you - ok, interesting competition.... so your girl, she is hip scored and eye tested then? It may well be prudent to Optigen test her considering the lines you arre thinking about - none are clear and we all have our problems but the working world is finding itself in real problems right now, and you would then have peace of mind.

I can say that I would doubt she would be allowed to be considered for Shelf if not... but you never know, and I'm sure she is scored and tested or you wouldn't be thinking of breeding her?...

Well done winning by the way.

Default thanks

hi,

thanks for all the replies so far, it was the channel four competition and was very much a turn your pet dog into a competition dog in 8 weeks scenario, a good experience but Im not sure it was received very well in the doggy circles. I am due to see the breeders this weekend and after that I will speak with Andy personally. Im a big believer in researching as fully as possible everything I do and have never bred before and for that matter never picked a suitor....
