Default Dudley's!

Well you learn something new every day! My boy is apparently a dudley, I didn't even know such a thing existed!

A dudley is a lab whose pigment on the nose, around the eyes, and feet is very light, so will be pink in labs whereas normally they'd be black! Just like the one above in the forum banner.

It's all down to genetics, which someone else might be able to explain, and is mainly in yellows.

Often comes with yellow/yellow or yellow/chocolate matings. That's why in the old days when people understood these things such matings were frowned upon. Better yellow to a black containing the yellow gene. Below is my Beth, the result of a yellow to chocolate mating. One possible problem is sunburned noses due to the lack of pigmentation, although Beth never had a problem (The fox red one was my Lucy)

I love Dudleys, they always seem to have happy faces 😀
Phil, I've looked at photos you have posted and Frank swimming with Barbara is awesome ❤️
The Dudley gene is also in bull breeds and I like to think that it was named after the town of Dudley or Earls of Dudley who lived at Himley Hall 😀 . This is "The Black Country" (West Midlands) and in this area (at Cradley Heath), Staffordshire Bull Terriers were bred and, eventually, recognised by the Kennel Club 😀

Lovely was not the word for Big Bad Bethany, believe me! I met one of our old dog club members a year or so back along with a friend of hers who I'd never seen before, and her friend said, "We were only talking about your Beth the other night!" And that was about a dog who had been dead for over 20 years! I spent the first 6 years of her life wishing she'd grow up, and the rest of her life hoping she never would, and my second wish came true. She was the best trainer I ever had. She trained me into accepting what she was prepared to do!
